Things I've learnt: I have learnt a bit about positioning, I was a little unclear on this before, but I am happy with this area now. Cleared up a few things on the way I used to use div and span.
Things I'm unclear on: I'm happy!

Kate,
Learnt so far:
relative, fixed and absolute positioning, lots of css code and that IS really is a bit of a pest.
Need more work:
positioning and getting styles right with the blocktext, this is just really practice needed.

matthew evans

what i have learnt so far:
how to use Css to style a basic web page.
How to link external CSS style sheets.
The issues relating to what makes a good website.

what i find unclear:
The different types of positioning.
How to code different types of navigation menus.i.e breadcrumbs

David Reid

I have learnt:
1 - How to use CSS to create rollover links.
2 - How to make a website more accessible.
3 - How to layout a website using tables.

I am still unsure about:
1 - How to use breadcrumbs to help navigate the site.
2 - The coding for certain things without looking it up each time.
3 - If I need to use a div or a span at certain times without double checking.

I have learnt to use storyboards and flowcharts in order to design and implement a simple web page.
I have also learnt to use CSS Style Sheets. They are very useful and will prove a major role in the final assignment for this module. By changing a few simple things in the CSS the site can look so much different efficiently aswell.
I have learnt to use effective rollovers for links through CSS so that everytime a link is hovered over it will change the background colour of the text. This makes a site much more usable.
I feel like i could do with a little more knowledge on the layout and structures of navigation menus, especially with lines seperating the links in a different colour box to the rest of the page. Not sure on how to use breadcrumbs either, could do with some knowledge.

Mitch Evans.

So far in this module I have learnt how to use Cascading Style Sheets and am beginning to feel more confident in using them and understanding how they work.

I have learnt new features that can be used within cascading style sheets (such as the 'Div' and 'Span') functions.

I have also learnt how to use WebCT as I’d never used it before!

However, everything I learn tends to sweat right out of me as this room is so bloody hot!

I could do with some more practice on using tables within a page, as whenever I try and whack in a page it goes horribly wrong.

Ian Bateman

My name is Lian Parry,
I have learnt how to code css instead of using dreamweaver to do it for me. In the lesson was the first time i have used a blog and will be including them on future websites as i feel they are a good method of communicating with users.
I have also learnt how to use style sheets to increase usability for users.

I need to work on using css for laying out the web page, instead of using tables. Todays lecture has helped me improve on this department but need to pratice these new skills

3 Things that I have learnt on this module (COMP3092):I have learnt much about usability and accessibilty on website and how they vary between different organisations... I have learnt about types of styles such as CSS. However, I'm still finding it slightly difficult to get to grips with writting the code used for CSS. I have learnt how to use tables effectively using dreamweaver as a web development tool.

Cheers folks,

Mr Mart

Three things i have learned:
1) How to implement Cascading Style Sheets onto a HTML page.

2) Creating a rollover effect on hyperlinks

3) Creating horizonal and vertical navigation menus

Things which are unclear:
I need to practise todays topic, but I am happy with everything else.

Pete Youds

I have learnt how to use storyboards and flowcharts effectively in website design.

I have also learnt why seperaating design from content is very important.

I have also learnt how to use Cascading Style Sheets to change the design of a webpage.

I am not sure on how to use bredcrumbs in navigating around a website.

My name is Michelle Ridgway

I have learnt about CSS and how they can be used in webpages. I have learnt about different HCI issues involved in creating good website design and I have also become familiar with out to use blogs.

I would like to further my knowledge in coding webpages in order to gain static posiitoning

I have learnt that cascading style sheets are very useful when developing websites. Using simple lines of codes, we are able to call up style sheets which display the data in a variety of different ways. e.g positioning, size, colour, rollovers etc.. Ive found there is no need to keep repeating chunks of code for similar styles when a simple line of code can be used.

I know why style sheets are effective but im still uncertain of how to properly code them, and where to place them... Ill have to practice more in dreamwever

the main thing i'v learnt is the purpose & benefits of CSS.
Using CSS for styling and laying out a page. i understand creating a simple Style Sheet using simple font styles, attaching Styles to web pages, styling links, Adjusting line spacing. i'v also learnt more about web accessability & navigation.
HOWEVER, i only understand the basics of CSS, i dint understand DIV & SPAN, and positioning (session 5).
I THINK I NEED TO GO OVER HOW TO ACTUALY DO THE CODING & THE CSS PART OF THE CODING

What I have learnt so far in the module:
1.Further knowledge on how to create a CSS and attach it to a web page.
2.Different styles that can be incorporated into a CSS and what these should look like.
3.Usability and accessibility of websites, what is good and bad. This will be useful for when I design my website.

Things I still find unclear:
- I would like to be able to add a navigation bar down the side of my page which would have links to all of the pages in my site. (I have set this up in the year 2 module using frames in Dreamweaver.)
- Breadcrumbs.

Claire Weyman

Paul Johnson

I have learnt about:

- Boxes
- Moving boxes around
- Giving boxes shadows

Things I still find unclear:

- Relative and absolute positioning
- Colours
- Tidy CSS code

Name: Andrew Walker

Things i have learnt: To use CSS and intergrate it into web pages. About positioning in tables, i was not sure how to do this before but now i am happier with this. i have also learnt more about accessability and usability.

I think i could still need to do some work with tables and layouts. also i would like to be able to lay a page out with css instead of using tables.

Name: Nazanin Mehrdadi

What I have learned on this module are as follows:

What is CSS?
The advantages and disadvantages of CSS
Different ways to link CSS to web page
How to give style to our web page by using CSS?

I need to work on today’s lecture about positioning and try to use box instead of table for designing my web site.

Eddy Smyth

I have learned:

a) The importance of applying design principles and making websites usable and accessible.

b) How to use CSS to dress HTML elements e.g. rollovers, border styling etc.

c) How to use CSS to positioning.

Things i could improve on:

How to create vertical/horizontal navigation menus using CSS.

Chris Harrold

Learnt so far...

1. A clearer understanding of design methadologys

2. How to apply internal and external CSS to format a web page.

Still find unclear..

1. The use of tables within a CSS to format a web page.

2. How to order the elements within a CSS as more are added.
